I haven’t been to see a doctor for years as I have always found it hard to get an appointment. I always try to get to see a nurse practitioner as they are very good. I try to get in to see [name removed] who is excellent at his job and always makes you feel that he will do his best to sort any problems out. I always leave the surgery feeling better after having a consultation with him. I know if it was something he felt a doctor would be better qualified to help then he would refer me. I have every confidence in him.

Suggested improvements
It would be better if you could get an appointment a little sooner. I think that the Urgent Treatment Centre at WGH would not be so busy if patients could see their own GP a bit sooner. The A & E department at RLI is absolutely manic and I feel sorry for the staff as they do an amazing job but are run off their feet. I was down there with my husband recently and he was admitted to resus in A&E then went into a bay, then into the corridor back into a bay then in the corridor and a bay again. About 28 hours later he was admitted to Cardiac Care Unit. Some of the patients in the waiting room were there because they couldn’t see their GP and had minor problems. All the staff are brilliant and remain as upbeat as they can but they have so much work to do. I wish they had extended WGH and kept A&E, Coronary Care, and the medical wards open as it was so much better and took the pressure off RLI.
