On this occasion, it was easy to get an appointment on previous occasions. It has not been easy.
As transgender patient I have hard to find Dr who can take care for my transition.
Firstly I made the initial appt with the receptionist at the desk. She was very helpful and understanding.
On the day of my appt there was a stand in doctor who had just arrived for the afternoon surgery. The doctor I was seeing was off sick.
We talked through my concern. I had taken photo's of which she looked at and together we downloaded them onto my file.
She explained she wanted to speak to another doctor and would contact me at home later. She did early evening (working late) and said that they wanted to see me again. I was put through to the receptionist who then arranged my next appt.
This has now taken place. Another photo was downloaded onto my file. I was told if the incident happens again, I was to contact the surgery and book an appt. All ok to date.
The surgery and staff are excellent but sadly I find it almost impossible to book an appointment with the system in place. If you can't get to the surgery very early am to queue for a booking or get through by phone first thing you stand little chance of getting a routine (non emergency) appointment and you can no longer book appointments in advance. I only got this visit because the surgery invited me for an annual checkup. But the actual physical care from all personnel is great.
Everyone was helpful but I would have preferred a face to face with the Doctor ratherthan a phone call. I still do not know the reason my legs are swollen and am worried they are caused by an underlying health problem that has not been diagnosed.
