The current system isn’t open long enough, creates a panic at 8am that you won’t get through. I wanted to arrange a review of my breathing with the Asthma nurse but the receptionist told me that I had to see a practitioner to arrange this even though at my last review in November I was sent to A & E as an emergency.

Suggested improvements
Recently I could only get a telephone call from a paramedic in September who told me he couldn’t help go to A & E and I was admitted with breathing difficulties, in November I couldn’t even get through as the surgery was overwhelmed and again admitted to A & E then ESDC, this month the same thing happened on the 8th. This appointment I had with a trainee who was concerned, considerate, attentive and genuinely tried to refer me to someone who may be able to help. Particularly when your discharged from hospital it surely is essential that a follow up by either the doctors or nurses is done so you don’t feel that you fall off a cliff edge and the basic care that you expect and need is provided.
