Staff were lovely. Didn't like staff in PPE. Couldn't see their faces.

Response from Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)

We understand that a member of staff dressed in full PPE can have quite an impact on our patients. If we are able, the nursing staff will introduce ourselves to you before the procedure, to alleviate any concerns and to inform you we will be wearing PPE. However, historically this has not included the Anesthetic staff. We will take this into consideration in the future and try to introduce the whole team involved in your care before any treatment commences. Thank you for your reply it helps us to gain a better understanding of the challenges faced by the staff at the treatment centre when providing caring and treatment during the COVID‐19 pandemic. Hopefully in the future we can scale down how much PPE we will be wearing.

I don't like the mask over my face.

Medication did not work. Numerous different types of anti-depressant medication were trialled to no avail. The only procedure that cleared me from a very deep depression was ECT. I can assure future patients who may be concerned about ECT that it works and after effects are minimal. I am happy to continue with maintenance ECT.
