Laura was exceptional: I myself am a doctor, and attended with chest pain, ultimately diagnosed as a rare genetic variant.
If every nurse I worked with was like Laura I believe healthcare would be so much better.
During the height of COVID my wife was rushed to hospital after experiencing a fit at work.
I arrived at the hospital before the ambulance. And due to the high rules due to COVID was unable to wait inside the hospital. So stood at the ambulance entrance waiting.
When I finally saw my wife's ambulance had arrived, I tried to make my way in. But was met with closed off areas. And places public were not allowed to access. After many minutes and seeing a few other unhelpful people I came across Laura. I quickly explained the issue. And straight away she led me behind the scenes and met back up with my wife.
Whil waiting to go to the next stage Laura was with us throughout. And from what was quite a worrying frightening episode, she really did a great job in letting us know she was there to help.
Her support didn't just end at accident and emergency as she followed up on her own initiative. For many days after my wife had left hospital.
Then on a more personal note. I was also hospitalised earlier in the year. Having never had any reason to stay in hospital, it was very helpful to hear from a familiar face who was able to explain, what was happening what would happen. And just overall gave good advice and made the experience far easier
Laura was empathic to my injury and provided me with good information. Appreciated her organisation in booking additional services such as ultrasounds with minimal waiting time where possible
Excellent colleague to work with, very supportive and knowledgeable. Great at problem solving and supporting colleagues.
