I would like to pass on special thanks this time to Silvia Castro and Louise Strider for their kindness on 5 October and 19 October respectively. I am taking part in the INDIGO Trial, and on both occasions I had periods where I was feeling a bit distressed. All the staff are great on the West Wing Day Unit, but please make them and their managers aware that their actions & words meant a lot to me.
I was so impressed by the care I received. I attended in order for a lump in my breast to be examined. I arrived early and was given very helpful directions from a happy person who seemed keen to help. I was greeted warmly by the reception staff in the unit I attended and was seen early. Everyone I had dealings with was kind, reassuring and helpful. I have absolutely no complaint and cannot tell you how impressed and grateful I am for the quality service I received.
Staff were kind and considerate. Overall outstanding.
The staff were very kind, friendly and supportive and extremely professional. Could have not asked for better care.
Outstanding compassionate service, and clearly not just for me - everyone I could see around me was treated to exactly the same very high standards
The last three questions do not apply.
I cannot fault my experience at the Marsden. Everything was so well organised that there was no room for worrying about anything. The process was seamless.
I last had treatment here 18 plus years ago. My treatment took several weeks then and now takes only 5 days. That is progress! Not only that, the tattoos that were done then were reused this time, which, I believe only goes to show how well trained the staff were then, and are now.
Having Radiotherapy is not something you should fear at the Marsden. You will be well looked after.
I was very very happy with the care I received when attending my screening. I was very anxious and I was happy with the support and kindness received.
The consultants are excellent. And talk you through the whole process. But further down like pain management is horrendous. The nurses and HCA in the clinical assessment are amazing. The team in radiology department great. The pain team. Did not listen and sent me home with a request to just up the morphine, which doesn't work on neuropathic pain (nerves). When a different consultant from another hospital got involved, I had a sarcastic call from the senior nurse about not giving it enough time (I'd you haven't slept in a week and feel like someone is poking you with a cattle prong every single night I think time is kind of irrelevant). But she will get the pain team to call back. When the pain nurse called back.
I was ignored for the request of changing my pain medication to a nerve pain blocker. As per my request from the consultant from the other hospital.
So thank you Marsden for leaving me in agony for a further 48 hours, till when you phone on Monday when I haven't slept for a week due to the intense pain that I have been suffering. And you have added a further 2 nights of no sleep.
Whilst I appreciate that you are trained. It would be an idea to listen to the patients. Rather than wash over it.
Staff have been polite, caring and I couldn’t have asked for more
