I visited the Admission and Pre assessment Unit Sutton today.
The receptionists and the nurse I saw were delightful.
I was seen on time, everything was explained fully and I was put at ease.
I fact I consider myself very fortunate to be having my surgery and treatment at such a superb hospital.
The clinical and medical staff are beyond reproach - as they always are. They are the epitome of a centre of excellence. In particular, Esther Goddard seeks me out to make sure I am OK and Alison Reid is simplyt first class. Notwithstanding an impressive CV, she is gracious, has emotional intelligence and "has the time". She has also been very caring and pains-taking with me and nothing is too much trouble. I think she is one of those people who consistently "goes the extra mile".
The administration staff and the admin/IT does not quite match up as a support group for the clinical and medical staff. There are some good people, but there are some bossy frumps.
Please get your parking machines to work; they consistently can't read my card and are the only machines I come across with that problem.
Its not always comprehensible when you have to speak and be nice; having to act and acknowledging that you may be wrong about your own assumptions. Sometimes it may feel like what we have to do is complicated. But, here at The Royal Marsen at Sutton, your problems will be solved without having to be in a cordial way. The staff here are very welcoming to everyone, flaws and all, so why wouldnt you want to take the best opportunity you could? Here, you are welcomed. Here, you are loved.

Lots of information, they was very understanding when I got overwhelmed stopped and let me get my self together, when I was ready they would continue checking I was able to understand and if I need, more time. This I found very caring and understanding they also asked my husband who was withme if he was okay or if he had any questions which helped him to not feel ignored and helped him to understand the road ahead.
I received exceptional care throughout my radiotherapy. without exception, the radiographers, medical staff and administrative staff were outstanding and showed professionalism and understanding at all times. No query was too trivial to answer fully, and I felt able to question what was happening during the radiotherapy procedure without any reticence. This helped me greatly through what would otherwise have been an unpleasant experience.
All the staff are help full and courteous at all times. I could not ask for better treatment.
The rapid diagnostic breast clinic offers a very good service. The medical team are wonderful and with the care & attention given - offer a first rate assessment. No one wants to be there! and all will walk through the door worried and scared, of what lays ahead and what may be. The team listen, are a calm presence and give you more importantly 'time'. You do not feel rushed. One appointment 'to do all', is great and no one minds waiting between mammogram, ultrasound, etc. It should be a model 'a one stop shop clinic', for all aspects of health and tests in hospitals/doctors.
The only thing I think would be great to offer, in addition, is every 6 months (or 3 months), is a meeting with a breast nurse for an examination. This is from someone with very dense, glandular breasts - which feel lumpy all the time. Its tough monitoring on your own, when to you it feels wrong. Whether this is another clinic or a half way house doctors could do.., it would give peace of mind, for ongoing preventative care.
Please extend my thanks and appreciation to all the team. Staff at the Marsden are very special people indeed!
Modern facilities, and friendly and knowledgable staff who put me at ease.
I think the nurses do an excellent job, they are so busy but always have time for you, I would say their care is 100%.
I could not have received better treatment from all the staff I interacted with in the Radiotherapy area. They were on time for the majority of appointments and on the one occasion they were delayed I was informed of a 20 mts delay just before my scheduled appointment time. It turned out to be 15 mts.
