I have a teenage son who is seriously ill, , sadly for my son he was treated with no respect or dignity. We entered reception area where 3 receptionist were talking, we were made to wait 5 minutes before one looked asked for my sons details without eye contact she continued to look at computer, I told her my sons name and DOB before she replied “go through”? Again no eye contact. Once in daycare we was approached by a nurse, before I could explain anything, another nurse approached us and started to wave her hand towards the corridor to teenage unit upstairs, rather than talk to us, another nurse came out of the room and my husband watched her look at us lift her hands and say “what are they doing here” disgusting behaviour. My child is seriously ill and the way my son and us as his parents were treated is unspeakable, to matters worse this behaviour was done in front of two ambulance staff that transported us from another hospital, they to mentioned the behaviour was disgusting. As a family, especially my son we do not look forward to visiting the daycare unit at all, staff are interested in the small children, but my son is also a child and at this point in his life is terrified to what is happening to him. Staff should be more understanding as to what families are facing, I most definitely do not find this a friendly place at all.

Train reception staff and nurses to respect families bringing there teenage children into daycare, staff need training on compassion and empathy towards families that are living with the fact they are losing their child like us. When parents are so scared of losing their child and feel completely stressed and anxious they then have to face rude and disgusting behaviour especially towards parents and in front of their child.
