Staff were helpful when I had covid staff help with meals and medication.

Suggested improvements
Do not feel safe around other patients staff handle the situations the best they can.

Response from St Mary's Hospital

We understand that sharing the ward with 15 other ladies can be extremely difficult and there may be times where others behaviour can be unpredictable or challenging. We try our best to manage all situations and where possible prevent altercations. We provide a range of spaces on and off the ward and 1-1 time with staff to allow people time away from others.

Listen to me and not unavailable how I feel all the time actually do checks at night time instead of falling asleep or sitting on your phones in the common areas.

Response from St Mary's Hospital

It’s a clear expectation that no staff member should have a personal mobile phone within any of the communal areas, this is reiterated in all staff meetings. General ward checks are completed every hour, this may include a visual check of each patients whereabouts so staff may not always enter a bedroom etc.

Because they work hard each day to look after us.

Suggested improvements
A small pool to exercises in or in my case to float in during an arthritis attack.

Response from St Mary's Hospital

Unfortunately having a swimming pool on our ward is not possible, however physiotherapy is available as an alternative.

Thank you for your review. We do not have a pool but I have forwarded your comment to the ward manager to see if this can be worked into your care plan. Best wishes, Hugh Jones, Patient Experience Manager

Well organized, food good lots choice etc.

A dinner “night light” would help with sleeping a lot as wakes you up often.

Response from St Mary's Hospital

We apologise that you were not shown the night light during your admission. It appears that you have been using the night light above the headboard, but there is a dim light that can be activated by staff in the bedroom ceiling that could have been used as an alternative and that would have interrupted your sleep.

Response from St Mary's Hospital

Thank you for your feedback. The light is kept on to enable staff to make sure you are ok without disturbing you. We advise the use of eye masks at night. I have forwarded your suggestion to the ward manager to see if there is a dimmer alternative. Best wishes, Hugh Jones, Patient experience Manager
