Review of Family Support written by a patient
10th May 2019

I was grateful at how soon, from referral, I was able to start the Art therapy. I really appreciated having the ability to share non-judgmentally and the offer by the therapist to listen and contain my distress, was immensely important. The consistency of the appointments and being able to discuss my fears about how my information may be shared with other professionals. Being able to discuss the frequency of appointments and being listened to, when I asked if any additional sessions could be requested. There was an issue when I trusted enough to open-up about stuff that had really upset me, a manager upon limited information, decided that my GP should be contacted. I gained a lot of unnecessary stress about this decision. Eventually, this was decided as not being appropriate, due to my individual needs.

The meetings provided the right atmosphere which encouraged me to open up and share my grief and pain with others who fully understood my suffering. Was able to learn how others were coping with similar problems as mine. Like value of their meetings may not be apparent immediately but I am sure will prove beneficial over the coming months.

Being here and listening has been very useful but I appreciated there was no pressure to participate if I didn't want to.

Wendy made me feel secure and at ease. No judgments, just sensible suggestions for moving forwards. Often by helping me to clarify and rationalize my own thoughts and the situation I was in, but couldn't change, only accept.
