Review of In-Patient Care written by a family member
3rd November 2023

The care provided was excellent throughout and always with dignity and respect. My mum felt very safe and trusted the team completely. As a family we feel she made the perfect choice for her end of life care, and not just for mum but for us as a family the support that we received was immense. Thank you, thank you St. Catherines.

Review of Lymphoedema Clinic written by a patient

Julie Norris explained clearly my condition and advised how to prevent the swelling in my ECG. She also explained how to avoid complications ie cellulite and showed me how to apply compression stickings.

Suggested improvements
I cannot think of anything you could have done better but did struggle to find the exit from the car park.

Spent lot of time with me, examing my legs and discussing things so I understood.

Review of In-Patient Care
30th October 2023

From the moment Nic Littler started to work with Mum in the community 2 years ago, including her admittance and care in the in-patient unit at the hospice in Preston, I have been blown away by the care, patience and support afforded to both Mum and my family. Mum had made it very clear that in her final days, the only place she would feel comfortable being looked after would be St. Catherine's Hospice in Preston. Thanks to the wonderful team there, this was made possible for her and we could not have wished for better care. Losing a much-loved family member is never easy but Mum's passing was made as comfortable as it could be. For that we are eternally grateful.

Suggested improvements
Not a criticism but a little point towards the future: We used a Facebook Portal device in Mum's room (brought from home) to help us to be able to chat with Mum face-to-face. This was really useful for family members who live far away and to help reassure Mum at times when when we were not able to be there in person. Staff regularly commented on how great it was to have the device in her room. It would be a really great addition to the hospice if each room could have a similar web-chat device to enable this experience for others.
