I can appreciate there can be long wait times... however to actually be seen was more like pot luck. I was the only one in the waiting room for 15 to 20 minutes before the next patient arrived.. yet waiting for an x ray the nurses had to wait for a doctor to sign off on the xrays.
My file was eventually signed with a group of files and was put to the back of the folder pending x ray which meant I waited for the 3 other patients who arrived after me to be x rayed and seen before me. Not the greatest experience I have recieved
The care I received on the day of my appointment was very good and I was not waiting overly long and was dealt with in an efficient manner.
The organisation beforehand could do with some improvement. I originally was given an appointment on May 9th. When asked if there was an earlier appointment I was given an appointment on April 24th, the original appointment was not cancelled so I received notifications of two appointments. Both appointments were then cancelled and my appointment was moved tp 3rd May without explanation.
The letter that I received stated that I should not drive to the appointment without any further explanation and additional contact details that I was able to find led me to an extension that was always engaged and vague information that I might have drops put in my eyes which would dilate the pupils depending on treatment needed. I could get no further information and so made unnecessary additional travel arrangements as there were no issues with me being able to drive straight after the appointment.
Second rate care! Absolutely disgusted with Q.A
Having fractured my wrist on 8 April and in my 2nd plaster I called into the plaster room and arrangements were made for me to see a Doctor. He, as all the staff was extremely helpful and informative and I had an x-ray and advice. The wait was very good and we were out within 2 hours. I saw the same excellent service given to others attending and everyone took trouble to minimise waiting times. An excellent service!
Cannot think of any improvements necessary.
As a first time mum I can honestly say the quality of care, treatment & support my baby & I received at QA could NOT have been better had I paid to go private. This far exceeded my expectations & the staff across the entire maternity department ( as I was in labour for 2 days predominantly on B5 but also on B8) were so friendly & helpful, day & night, that I felt as if I could have been the only person giving birth although this was clearly not the case. I was never made to feel like a burden or inconvenience or like I was taking up valuable bed space & it was stressed to me repeatedly that if I had any questions day or night to simply press my call button & this was indeed the case. All staff were introduced to me at handover times during shift changes in a friendly yet professional manner & the continuity of my care over the extended period of my stay was superb.
I am choosing to breast feed & genuinely feel that I may well have given up had I not had the help & support of the staff I encountered during my stay as their offers of help always felt genuine so I did not feel like a burden when I was struggling.
I cannot stress enough how grateful I am to each & every member of staff I had dealings with during my stay as they all helped not only with my physical care but with my peace of mind at such a mentally challenging time. I do not intend to have any further children but if I did without question or doubt I would have them at QA & I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone else based on my experience.
I would also like to add that the cleaning staff & the catering staff I met were all very polite & friendly too & I was well fed & watered during my stay with plenty of choice available for even the fussiest of eaters.
Great compassion and concern shown, particularly by Ward Sister, Katherine Davenport. However, all staff were superb from the anciliary staff upwards. I was particularly impressed by Professor Brennan: not only his skill in performing a particularly difficult procedure but also his friendliness and opennes in what the operation entailed. Ignore the negative comments in the Press: Q.A. is wonderful.
My eternal thanks to the whole orgaanisation.

Very happy with the experience this morning.
Waiting times were reasonable and all staff were cheerful, helpful and efficient.
Many thanks to all for their assistance...
Full credit to Sarah Burr & student Lucy Jo, they were completely supportive, caring & listened to what I wanted and did all they could to make it happen!
Dr Raj was also a great support.
I didn’t have a great birth experience 5 years ago and was determined to have a better, more positive experience, this time round. I’m not convinced I would have done without Sarah & Dr Raj - they listened to hear rather than listened to respond - some of their colleagues could have more training in this area.
What really impressed me is how the midwives, doctors and anaesthetists worked as a team.
This was my first experience of staying in hospital so I was nervous but the nurses and staff (especially the student nurses) on D8 made me feel reassured and safe during my time there.
