Review of B7 written by a patient
9th December 2019

I was told several times that I could go home if certain criteria were met but never informed what the criteria were. I asked several times to have a cannula removed from my hand as it wasn't being used and its location was preventing me from properly holding my baby and it was getting caught on everything, I was repeatedly told to speak to someone else about it. I also think it's stupid that your partner can't stay with you overnight at least the first night. I'm high risk for postnatal depression and had a somewhat traumatic birth, I could've really used the emotional support of my partner.

I can not fault the care I received. From the surgeon and theatre team, the ward staff, porters, to the ladies who served the meals and brought a welcome cup of tea I was treated with kindness, respect and compassion. Thank you QA.

My Mum, who is 92 broke her wrist and we attended A&E today. The staff were all amazing from the receptionists to the porters, ancillary staff to the nurses, doctors and consultants. My Mum was treated with the utmost respect and the care and attention she received was outstanding - which was amazing, given how busy they all were. We were kept informed of what was happening, explained clearly in terms we could understand. Special mention should be made of Ruth, a nurse that sorted everything (with a smile) and turned a bad day into a very positive experience. There’s a really great atmosphere in the hospital and a can do attitude. I’m not sure, on my experience what could be done to improve it.

The only concern regarded my discharge from hospital. maybe because it was at a weekend and the department that specialised in my operation were not available but the initial home care instruction was lacking. However a telephone call on the Monday morning put all back in perspective. Think maybe in similar casesto mine anyone being discharged with chest drains could be given a simple one page leaflet of do's and don'ts. Other than that all tratments were excellent, patient care excellent and follow up after 7 days was also excellent.

Review of Endoscopy written by a patient

Baleseng was absolutely wonderful. She made me feel so at ease and made jokes and generally comforted me about a procedure I was quite nervous about. She's the kind of woman who give nurses the fantastic reputation they can have, and deserve, and I'd really like to thank her.

Review of Day Surgery Unit written by a patient

The staff team were all amazing and lovely. My surgeon (Mr Sherrie I think, plastics) and his theatre team (especially Susan I think) we're really kind and lovely even giving up her lunch break to make sure I was ok. Thank you so much for being so kind.

Most of the staff are kind and considerate however there are a few that feel it's ok to have conversations with others while they are dealing with you. Constructive suggestions: 1. A way to stop you feeling that your cattle being herded from one area to the next. 2. Ticket system or a display with waiting time - you end up sitting there scared to go to the toilet or get a drink in case you get called and your not there. 3. Know who it is that you will be seeing. 4. More magazines/reading material.
