When I arrived in accident and emergncy on a Sunday just before miday I expected that that there would be a wait but I was very happy with the efficent way my problem, a sad lack of memory, was delt with. There was a wait, "to be expectedon a Sunday" but the waiting area was clean and airey, there was a sad lack of literature which would have made the waiting more acceptable. The doctor explained what he considered had happened to me, "a minor head bleed" and I was admitted to F4 ward. From that moment on everything went smoothly: sleep, being seen by doctor in the morning when he said it seemed like a minor bleed and if all the scans and other visits for scans etc. proved accepatable I could go home that day . I finished the scan and a visit by the physotherapist, the last an MRI, at.4.15 when I returned to the ward when I expected to be discharged. I had phoned my Son in law to come and pick me up in about an hour. At 8pm we gave up the idea that I would be discharged as no-one could be found to sign my discharge papers,( I didn't have this problem when I left The Royal Marines after 25 years). The following morning I saw the doctor on the ward around 9am and he said I could go home and there we had a problem, I had to wait for paperwork and medication on the ward. To cut a very boreing morning and part afternoon short I left the hospital eventually at around 2.30pm. I thank you for the excellent service and treatment I received by all the many staff who had anthing to do with my stay I just think there is something wrong with a discharge system that took over five(5) hours to provide medicine.
