Developed severe biliary colic - ambulance crew attended in response to 999 call. My wife encountered some early communications difficulties - resolved. Ambulance crew were excellent, quick assessment and offered i.v. pain relief - very effective. In ED staff were considerate and friendly. I subsequently suffered an episode of very low pulse rate and lost consciousness. I was transferred to the Resuscitation Unit, where I recovered quickly was dealt with most sympathetically and effectively. I was then transferred to the MAU (separate report will follow)
