All staff were polite and caring, although the medical staff were stretched quite thinly. I would have liked a detailed post op explanation of the procedure that was carried out, and more information regarding side effects. I received a very short assessment of my suitability for discharge the morning after surgery, and in fact suffered constipation/ileus for several days after; something that I wasn't prepared for. I was on the cusp of calling out the emergency doctor until my condition improved drastically at 0300 on 25 Sep, 5 days after discharge. Had I been better informed and perhaps given appropriate medication (or prescription), then I feel that this situation could have been avoided. Additionally I had the usual long wait (over 6 hours) for receipt of TTO's, eventually being escorted to the pharmacy by the ward Sister to collect them. Overall, I am pleased that my surgery has been completed to a high standard and one week post op my pain & discomfort is beginning to ease. I was grateful for a 'window seat' on E3, and thank the staff for their care and attention.
