Hello, this is Dorothy Phelan and I couldn't have been happening, everything was good. I would like to have more.
I received counselling from Longfield with Jo Hunt. She was very understanding when I had to bring my children due to lack of child care. She gave me great support for this service and I am so thankful for this service at no cost as I am currently a single parent and wouldn't have been able to access this otherwise.
The care received was very professional. I was able to talk freely with the care given, very calm atmosphere and felt very relaxed. On the all, it was great care.
Never having received counselling before I didn't know what to expect. I was made to feel at ease. The questions asked throughout my sessions focused on what had happened between one week and the next and I felt that my counselor had listened to what I was saying and kept her notes in good order as she seemed to remember things that had been discussed before.
Sensitive caring staff, professional whilst remaining human and approachable. Lovely location in Mincis. Not so keen on Glos location for group session, pity only three of us in the group sessions but great content and delivery not with standing.
I am very grateful for the 12 sessions of bereavement counselling that I had received. The space to talk and to express my feelings helped me to realise that the way I felt/feel was normal in theses circumstances. I am beginning, through this support to believe that I will extremely come to terms with the death of my husband and that I will be gradually able to both treasure the [past and have hope for the future.
Everyone was friendly and supportive. The cause was a speed and clarity through negotiation and permissions.
Excellent preparatory administration before counselling. Clear communication about logistics, hopeless, signage both from the main road on the common and on Burleigh Road - too small to pick up in the dark needs larger fluorescent signs added to anxiety on first evening. Welcome from every receptionist lovely. Had slight anxiety about being seen from outside through window. I felt studied and carefully 'held' through my 12 counselling sessions. Each one had been carefully prepared for thought about, there was clear 'route' through the weeks with some effective 'tools' and ideas given to me. Even though I gave a donation at the end, the fact of its being free felt very important - I was being given a precious gift which comforted and sustained me and I had a responsibility too.
Longfield Hospice was awarded the iWantGreatCare certificate of excellence in 2024 for delivering outstanding care.
