All of the care team were terrific, they were considerate attentive to both our mum the patient and us as a large family with emotions very high they supported us best they possibly could. The only one discretion in the care was when collected from home by ambulance crew they were not prepared for moving mum correctly, not professional as all the one services delivered. However, in the majority of this difficult time the services was exceptionally good.

Response from Cynthia Spencer Hospice

Thank you very much for your positive feedback about the Hospice at Home service. I am sorry to hear about the ambulance crew, unfortunately the ambulances and crew are provided by a different organisation. If you wish to raise these concerns direct with the ambulance service, please do get in touch with the Hospice at Home team and we can provide you with contact details for the ambulance provider.

The doctors and nurses asked for me so much while I was in the hospice with my illness they are so good of what they are doing to all the different patients that are in this hospice with their different illness not only mine. I am glad to have met them all they come all over here from different areas to do this job for the young and elderly. I cannot say anything bad, I know I'll miss you all when I leave on wednesday, from your (cheeky) patient.

The care which was given was very good, they helped and cared for, and looked after dad with compassion. The team were also there for us as a family.

I appreciate all the care that was given but my family and myself still found it very difficult not always knowing when the help would be given. The nights before age UK helped were strenuous my children did 2 hours shifts!

Response from Cynthia Spencer Hospice

Thank you for your feedback. Due to the nature of the service, decisions are made on a daily basis as to the availability of staff for patient support. We are presently working on service development with a view to how we can offer a defined number of shifts for patients, so they have a more specific period of support, this hopefully will reduce some of the uncertainty for patients and carers as to when nurses will be attending.

The care was a great support for both myself, my sister and my mum when she needed it, the nurses were extremely helpful in supporting me and my sister and ensuring my mum did not suffer, seeing my mum in pain and feeling helpless the nurses did all they could to put us and most importantly my mum at ease, they helped to keep us calm and I cannot think of any improvement needed only that there should be more nurses.
