They are very caring and the different rooms are lovely especially the relaxation room. The only problem I have had was when I finally was opening up to a nurse I was interrupted by another nurse by not saying the tight things which made me shut off again.
I have selected extremely unlikely not due to any of the staff on Bay Ward. I have found the majority of staff easy to talk to and they genuinely want the best for you. I feel that the lack of resources eg Drs availability - having to wait 4 days for a suppository to be supplied after 3 weeks of constipation and the lack of staffing has a huge impact on the ward, it's very disappointing for both patients and staff to not be able to do activities because they are snowed under with work. No activities in the weekend? Do you think mentally unwell people just don't need activities at the weekend and only should have them Monday to Friday?? I find the management of this hospital appalling - I had a problem with a patient on a different ward who was disturbing me and I was constantly fobbed off nothing was done about it - this made me feel more depressed than when I first came in Berrywood.
The best thing about this place is the staff, a few in particular.
There's Chris who is funny, kind attentive and is always making improvements to the ward.
Like brightening to the hall ways with pictures so they don't look so clinical.
I like the new layout in the lounge. It kind of reminds me of a cafe or something (to be frank anything would be better how it was).
Happiness and succus trying to keep people together.
Staff make sure that I am eating properly.
My care was good and people understood me and I felt comfortable very quickly. The food!
It was all good.
Staff are nice and friendly and it is like one big family.
