Some constructive antium as to how Marnia ICU could be improved.
1.Sometimes 15 mins checks are not 15 mins on numerous occasions I have known it sometimes to be as long as 45 mins between checks which if suicide was attempted during this time it would definitely be successful!
2.I personally have seen very little of OT since being on the unit.
3.Rubbish bags to be readily available in bathrooms as a pile of rubbish left in corner looks a mess!
Porters.
1.Visiting time is very flexible and helpful if relatives work.
2.Staff always very welcoming of visitors- drinks offered etc, make for a very positive experience.
I was treated with willing care and understanding. The nurse was punctual.
Frequent visits would be very reassuring.
Amazing help and care.
Felt at home specially due to having care from following members of staff.
(1) Lidia Kazniewska.
(2) Seth Brul.
(3) All nurses and carers.
Whilst a patient on Marina I have found personally difficult to approach staff to talk.
However, certain members of staff seem to have a sixth sense and will approach me to talk which I often find more useful.
The following seem to be the best at approaching me to talk.
- Lidia.
- Scott.
- Emma.
- Seth.
- Ron.
- Nellie.
- Anne.
- Tee.
The best 1-1 conversations and most helpful I have had have been with Lidia, Emma, Nellie, Anne, Tee, Seth, Sara, Mary and Ron.
I have found more staff on the ward very helpful and standard of care overall is excellent.
Staff to highlight are :-
Sarah - always very approachable. Easy to speak to when asked to deal with a problem always know she will do her best to solve. Very down to earth and a pleasant person. A very good team leader. Team always seem happy when Sarah is on duty.
Jo - always keen to speak to you and listen. Approachable. Can seem to a little "jobsworth" at times and not very 'flexible' but the rules are rules I do understand.
Jo is always pleasant.
I have found most staff on unit very helpful and standard of care overall is excellent staff to highlight are :-
Memory - A good listener. Approachable and always has time for you.
Anne - Pleasant lady. Feels quite "mumsy" and caring which when feeling down can be quite nice. A good listener.
Tee - A very pleasant man who has a very caring attitude. Always keen to approach you to see if everything is OK. Takes time to listen. Will make a super qualified nurse. And already is a great healthcare assistant.
Stanley - A pleasant man although I find it difficult to approach him if I have a problem.
Nurse Sara Johnson has been extremely helpful, and loving as a nurse should be. Professional with gentle approach support and great deal of experience, she has build my confidence fully in myself and NHS. I could not praise her enough, and wish her all the blessings in the world!
To be honest as a medical professional. I felt that staff were very supportive. It was clear at times that some members of staff are under pressure themselves which led me to be a bit 'snappy' at times as I felt that I had to put into a category with other patients unduely, clearly this was my conception and I apologise for my short fuse at times. Domestic staff and food etc faultless. Thank you all for being here when I needed you.
