Some while ago I had the misfortune to develop polymyalgia - if you don't know what that is, 'living hell' is a fair description - and the side effects from the steroids curing that tipped me over the edge into mild class 2 diabetes, for which I was prescribed Metformin. They have been of immense help to me since then in stabilising things and I've had no problems with them. Fortunately I only need a very low dose, but know someone who experienced a very severe diabetic attack and told me that her Metformin sorted things out within a very brief space of time; clearly they are very effective. The only problem I find is the size of the tablet - should I have throat trouble, such as recently following a hip replacement operation, they can be difficult to swallow although cutting them in half helps.

I have been using this medicine for a few years now and some people will have higher dosage then others if you have type 2 diabetes then you should control you diet and keep active your in control of your own actions and what you eat and drink so please do the right thing and take good control of what you're putting inside of your own body

Profile

Treating type 2 diabetes in certain patients. It is used along with diet and exercise.
Sitagliptin/metformin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor (DPP-4) and biguanide combination. It works by increasing insulin release. It decreases the amount of sugar that the liver produces and the intestines absorb. It also helps to make your body more sensitive to the insulin that you naturally produce.
