As a then 85-yr-old male (2019)seeking a second partial knee replacement, but with moderate aortic stenosis, there were problems finding me a slot in a hospital with intensive care; however James (and his secretary) pulled out all the stops and eventually he succeeded in getting me into Pembury. Op total success; back home following day, with 90degree flexion prior to leaving ward. Follow-up physio at Pembury, and was deemed so effective that staff used me as best example for others (some younger)!! And gave me extra free session for good behaviour. Subsequently some four months later climbed foothills of Mount Arenal w/o problems, and returned to golf _ although due to current lockdown _ and threatened longer-term criminal incarceration of fit over 70s _ have lost general fitness and condition. Recently _ mid-March 2020 _ returned from Florida having played 18-hole rounds of golf. Cannot fault conduct of op and follow-up; highly commend James for professonal expertise, sense of caring _ and humour.

When my son, James, had a trampoline accident tearing every ligament in his knee bar one we thought that his trampoline career had finished - that was until we were recommended to Mr Young. He performed an absolute miracle on James having him in for his first surgery within a week of our first consultation. Mr Young made it very clear that he couldn't guarantee that James would ever be able to trampoline again but not only is he able to train again he is back better than he was before the accident and was due to compete at the British and English Championships this year - the coronavirus lock down was the only thing that stopped that. I would recommend Mr Young to anyone who has had a knee accident or any sports injury. He liaised directly with the physio so that the level of aftercare was consistent and tailored to James individual needs. Thank you for getting my son back doing what he enjoys doing the most.

I have recently had an ACL reconstruction under Mr Young's care. He also repaired my meniscus. As background I am a county level hockey player. From start to finish he was clear, understanding and very professional. He listened to my concerns and took time to explain my options and answer my questions. Way more time than I've received from any other doctors. I have total confidence in his ability and would have no question about seeing him again or recommending him to my team-mates or family. I am now 4 months following surgery and my knee feels great.
