It is hard to convey the thanks, gratitude and apprecaition I owe to Francis Johnston and the Parkside Hospital Team. He identified my spinal stenosis as part of his investigation into my prolapsed disc, taking great care to reassure me of what was possible in the journey to recovery and beyond. I actually ended up having multiple surgeries with Francis, but all totally as a result of my over confidence in my return to normal fitness, a horse riding accident and a swimming pool incident. He still committed to fixing what I had broken with a knowing look. Since my last operation in 2015 I have been able to lead a full and enriched life enjoying so many special moments making memories with the family that would not have been possible without his expertise. He is a legend in our household, but a very humble, capable and extraordinary person who I am extremely grateful to have met. The Team at Parkside were always exceptional and supportive throughout the stay and in all follow ups. A huge heartfelt thank you to all, but especially Mr Francis Johnstone. Thank you . James Shanks

Mr Johnston performed a cervical discectomy at C4/5 on me at Parkside Hospital around 1994 …my spine is still holding up really well despite RA,OA & osteoporosis. He was very caring, supportive & optimistic & now at 80+ yrs of age,I am so very grateful for his excellent treatment .

24 years ago (year 2000) I was operated on by Mr Johnston's team to remove a cavernous haemangioma that was causing me to have seizures. I suspect that, in of the operations performed by this team, that this was a comparatively straight-forward procedure. Certainly when compared to that performed by Mr Johnston on a spinal abnormality in my father about a decade later at St Georges hospital. Be that as it may, I cannot fault the treatment I received, nor the after-care during my brief stay in the hospital. The passing of years dims the memory but, what I most recall, is how Mr Johnston dealt with my parents prior to my surgery, putting them at ease at what must have been a particularly stressful time for them. I have 24 years (and counting) of gratitude to Mr Johnston and his incredible team.

Mr Johnston and his team were excellent. Really listened and helped. Had a cervical Foraminotomy. Very successful surgery and great care, before and after, at Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon. Would very highly recommend!

25 years ago Mr Johnston found after reviewing my MRI that I had an ependymoma in C5 of my spinal cord. I had to wait 6 weeks before I could have the operation to remove it due to waiting for a new financial year. April 6th 1995 (my 1st wedding anniversary), Mr Johnston performed the lengthy operation at the old Atkinson Morley Hospital and removed all of the benign tumour. I cannot thank him enough. His expert care is second to none and it’s because of his skills that I am still alive today. Thank you so much to Mr Johnston and his brilliant team! I owe you my life! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ (I’ve also been able to celebrate 26 years of marriage & 2 beautiful sons to add to my legacy! Only made possible because Mr Johnston saved my life! Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️) x x
