Ms. Laura Johnson was the surgeon who took care my Mum, Abeba. Her professionalism and positive personality made my Mum feel at ease and confident that she was in good hands. My Mum was truly blessed to have been under Ms. Johnson's care, as evidenced by her positive experience throughout the entire process.

I want to relay a message on behalf of my mum Abeba Ghebreselassie ( lady with the long name!) who was in your care for breast cancer surgery this week. Thank you so very much, I was nervous but your positive cheerfulness, personal approach to your patients was extremely reassuring for me. You and your team too such exceptional care of me from the start of the diagnosis to surgery and aftercare. I was very privileged and blessed to have you look after me. Thank you so much again!

Miss Johnson has been amazing and really looked after me not just from a surgical point of view but also holistically. I trust her implicitly and am very grateful to her and her team.

Laura is not only an extremely skilled surgeon but she is a very caring and dedicated lady that I trust 100%. If you need breast surgery then please see Laura. My procedure was as smooth as could be and I am recovering well. Thank you so much.

Profile

Laura Johnson was appointed as a Consultant oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgeon at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in 2016. She completed her undergraduate training at Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School in 2004, before returning to undertake her doctoral thesis. Her MD involved research into a novel magnetic technique for sentinel lymph node biopsy in breast cancer and was awarded in 2012. Her postgraduate training concluded with a training interface group (TIG) national oncoplastic fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital.

Laura also holds a post-graduate certificate in medical education and is a faculty member for a number of post-graduate courses including the Master’s degree in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery. She has a special interest in implant associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) and is collecting and managing the UK series of this rare disease. She has presented this data nationally and internationally and, working alongside the Association of Breast Surgeons, continues to raise awareness of it (including collaborating with the MHRA).

Laura believes in tailoring care for each individual patient by using the best available evidence to identify a range of suitable treatment options and to help the patient decide upon the best course of care for them.
