I have been under the care of Dr Kandikattu for a few years now with my bad back, he has always been caring and professional and given me the best advice I could of asked for. This will be the second time I have had treatment with him with injections in my back and he talked me through the whole procedure. The results lasted a lot longer than I was told it would so I cant say how pleased I was with that. Anyone who lives with back pain will know how fantastic it is to be without pain, I cant thank him enough.

After having very bad experiences with several epidural injections and facet joint injections at another hospital in the past I saw Dr Kandikattu yesterday 29/6/2I at the Stamford and Rutland hospital. I was completely shocked and amazed at what a different experience I had under his care. He phoned me at home before the procedure and went through everything in detail ( as I am needle phobic and suffer with anxiety) during the procedure he was extremely caring, gentle, compassionate and explained what he was doing and when. Doing everything thing at my pace, I cannot thank him enough and feel very lucky to be under his care. Also all his team and the nurses at Stamford are absolutely amazing. Dr Kandikattu is without doubt a leading specialist in his field and I cannot recommend him enough especially if you are a very nervous patient as I am. Thank you Dr Kandikattu

Dr. Kandikattu is an excellent pain management specialist. He put me at ease as soon as I saw him and explained everything in detail. Throughout the procedure he was very caring, constantly checking that I was ok and not in any pain, explaining what he was doing at every stage. I didn’t feel any pain at all, unlike the last time I had this procedure which was performed by a different doctor. I highly recommend Dr. Kandikattu. His skill and expertise is second to none and I cannot praise him enough.

Dr Kandikattu went over and above to not only examine me and arrange necessary treatment, but also really listened to find out my current living situation and lifestyle and was extremely caring. A great doctor and genuinely nice person, too. Also, his secretary, Kate Evans, has worked very hard to sort out my authorisation with BUPA, which was a bit tricky. Thank you !!

He was very gentle during the injections, I’ve had many steroid injections over the years and this time was the least painful out of the lot…so far he’s been great

Profile

Dr Kandikattu is one of the few pain medicine consultants in East Anglia to have gained certification in the Fellowship in Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP). He uses the biopsychosocial model of pain to offer modern assessment and management of his patients’ pain at the Peterborough City & Stamford Hospital, Fitzwilliam and Boston West and Clementine Churchill Hospitals.

“Whilst doing my pain training at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital and Hillingdon Hospital, I was inspired by the pioneers in pain management there and I became keen to learn new techniques.”

“I am pleased to now be able to tutor students studying for their MSc in Regional Anaesthetics at the University of East Anglia and I hope that I can instil some of desire to embrace new and modern pain management techniques in these trainees.”

Dr Kandikattu offers comprehensive pain management to people suffering from chronic pain from their head to their toes including: cancer, musculoskeletal and spinal (neck, chest, lower back, sciatica), neuropathic, complex regional pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, chronic headaches and persistent post-surgical pain.

He performs a full range of pain interventions including epidurals, facet and sacroiliac joint injections, radiofrequency denervations, most of which are image-guided using x-ray or ultrasound guidance. He is also an expert in treating acute pain and inpatient pain management.

He offers outpatient appointments and inpatient care for pain management intervention at the Fitzwilliam and Boston West Hospitals. Patients struggling with chronic post-operative pain may need further pain management to relieve their discomfort and Dr Kandikattu can offer a back-up service for them too.

“I use this holistic model of approach for all my patients, taking all the biological, psychological and, social factors into account as each can impact on a patient’s pain. It’s important to treat patients as a whole.” said Dr Kandikattu.
