The treatment I received yesterday from Dr S Kandikattu and the team was amazing. As a nervous and anxious patient, I can be nervous and acquiesce and even if I am in pain, I'll say I'm not as not to cause alarm or worry to others. However, there was no such need for that yesterday. The injections were expertly done and were about as painless as I imagine they ever could be. The nurses and others helping were kind and considerate and I can't speak highly enough about my treatment I received. I would definietly recommend to anyone I speak to about them.

Dr Subhash was very caring, precise and listened to exactly what I was saying yet professional. He asked questions throughout the procedure so he could target the exact point I was getting the pain. I can't see how anything could be improved, the care and service I experienced couldn't of been better if I'd gone private. The service and care started from the receptionist through to the nurses and Dr Subhash. The procedure wasn't painful like I thought it would be but I'm sure that was down to Dr Subhash experience. When I left I felt really happy with everything and I honestly can't fault anything, outstanding.

Have just had my six steroid injections in my lower back by Dr.Kandikattu. He was totally informative throughout the whole procedure making me feel at ease. At each step of the treatment he explained what I should expect and experience. I felt in complete control of the timings as he continually asked how I felt and whether I was OK to proceed to the next stage. A very caring and professional pain treatment expert.

Profile

Dr Kandikattu is one of the few pain medicine consultants in East Anglia to have gained certification in the Fellowship in Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP). He uses the biopsychosocial model of pain to offer modern assessment and management of his patients’ pain at the Peterborough City & Stamford Hospital, Fitzwilliam and Boston West and Clementine Churchill Hospitals.

“Whilst doing my pain training at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital and Hillingdon Hospital, I was inspired by the pioneers in pain management there and I became keen to learn new techniques.”

“I am pleased to now be able to tutor students studying for their MSc in Regional Anaesthetics at the University of East Anglia and I hope that I can instil some of desire to embrace new and modern pain management techniques in these trainees.”

Dr Kandikattu offers comprehensive pain management to people suffering from chronic pain from their head to their toes including: cancer, musculoskeletal and spinal (neck, chest, lower back, sciatica), neuropathic, complex regional pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, chronic headaches and persistent post-surgical pain.

He performs a full range of pain interventions including epidurals, facet and sacroiliac joint injections, radiofrequency denervations, most of which are image-guided using x-ray or ultrasound guidance. He is also an expert in treating acute pain and inpatient pain management.

He offers outpatient appointments and inpatient care for pain management intervention at the Fitzwilliam and Boston West Hospitals. Patients struggling with chronic post-operative pain may need further pain management to relieve their discomfort and Dr Kandikattu can offer a back-up service for them too.

“I use this holistic model of approach for all my patients, taking all the biological, psychological and, social factors into account as each can impact on a patient’s pain. It’s important to treat patients as a whole.” said Dr Kandikattu.
