The Doctor used the term 'mild' to describe my ADHD. Mild sounds like a functioning label. I believe that functioning labels are inappropriate as: they aren't (to my knowledge) in the DSM-5, ADHD is a varying condition and so while my symptoms may be 'mild' on one day they won't on another, functioning labels have and may well still be used to prevent neurodivergent people from gaining assistance they need, functioning labels don't actually help the person they are applied to, and given my ADHD may have had a hand in causing my Depression/ Anxiety I don't think it can be considered mild. It also wasn't helpful that I had to choose between medication and psychological assistance but I recognise this was probably not down to the Doctor. That being said I did feel like I had the space to say everything I wanted without judgement so apart from the use of the outdated label the appointment was good.
