I would not change any aspect of Ms Teo. The day I attended the John Radcliff Hospital Ms Teo was extremely thorough throughout. I had a small lump within my neck that required removing. This lump would only protrude when laying down. Therefore could not be seen during visible observation. I had a consultation with Ms Teo about my symptoms and how they were effecting my day to day life. These symptoms were headaches, neck/shoulder ache and the feeling of pressure to the inside back of my head. With no sign of where to target, Ms Teo sent me to the Ultrasound department where the team made every effort to locate the lump within my neck. Ms Teo had given me strict instructions to lay face down during the ultrasound because I would be operated on in that position. This was identified and a set of marks were highlighted on the back of my neck to mark the lumps location. I returned to the ward where Ms Teo examined the highlighted area. With this area marked I was taken to theatre. After the operation I was returned to the Ward where Ms Teo was waiting. I was pleased to get a full update of the operation and how Miss Teo had physically located the lump, cut it out and removed the surrounding tissue. I was told this was to be sent off for analysis and for the reason why. Miss Teo then provided perfect aftercare. I was informed about the stiches, what type they were and how they would disappear. I was also informed about pain management which I am pleased for the suggestion to start the pain relief before the anaesthetic wore off. This I understood and am extremely pleased I listened. Over the weeks the stiches dissolved and the scaring reduced to almost zero. Personally I would say Ms Teo’s approach to this operation cannot be faulted. The perseverance and professionalism shown was a credit to Ms Teo's abilities as a surgeon. I am delighted with the result. The lump has gone which proves the success. My headaches and the feeling of pressure has stopped. I have even noticed that the leaning forward motion of simply tying my shoe laces has stopped causing discomfort. I have now had my last consultation with Ms Teo at the west Berkshire Hospital. At all times I felt at ease. Ms Teo has an approach that feeds back reassurance that you are being listened to. This was highlighted when Ms Teo went through the Lab results word for word and then broke down the wording for my understanding. This I found very comforting and reassuring that there was nothing to worry about. I believe that without the drive shown by Ms Teo to locate this lump, this operation may not have gone ahead. If this was the case, I would have been left with my symptoms of discomfort for my future years. Ms Teo, please take the above as a huge thank you. You are a credit to your profession. Kind regards Paul Knaggs
