Mr Shah listened to all my comments and is a very caring and understanding surgeon. I had no problem having two new knee operations which were fully explained to me by Mr Shah and i felt at ease at all time. i found the aftercare was very good and professional.

I arrived under Mr Shah's care following a frustrating eighteen months or so at Colchester General Hospital with delays and a very unsettling first examination with a very rude and abrupt associate consultant. In June 2013, (and in constant pain from an arthritic knee) I was told I would not be seen until March of 2014 - nine months! Being a retired Coastguard Officer, and in desperation, I applied through the Dreadnought Unit for treatment at Guy's Hospital. I then came under the care of Mr Shah's team, firstly being examined by his registrar, followed by a pre-op assessment- all in the same day. That was on the 20th October. Mr Shah operated on me on November 29th. That was the first time I had met Mr Shah personally, and he spent a good time with me explaining all aspects of the operation and the implications along with the after-care. This involved the initial discomfort and pain control post-op and the long journey back to physical fitness. He left nothing out. He then asked me again did I want to go through with the surgery, to which I agreed. The knee replacement was carried out and I now enjoy a virtually pain free life even though its only six months since the op. I have seen Mr Shah twice for a follow-up consultations, where once again he explained everything I needed to know patiently and concisely. I consider his professional approach to his patients as outstanding, certainly to me, and add to that he is a personable and likeable man with an good sense of humour. From the beginning he put me at ease with both his professional attitude and his personal demeaner. His professional skills as a surgeon in my opinion are without equal and I commend him. Shame he doesn't work at Colchester Hospital.......

It is no exaggeration to say that Mr Shah has completely transformed my life. I received first class treatment from Mr Shah and excellent care from his staff at St Thomas's Hospital. I was kept in the picture at every stage of my treatment, so I knew exactly what to expect. I am thrilled with the result of the surgery, as I am now free of pain for the first time in over a year. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Shah.

Having recently undergone a knee replacement, which was carried out by Dr. Shah, I am extremely pleased with the care, service and treatment I have received before, during and after the procedure. I had been thoroughly informed and educated before the surgery during a pre-op consultation, which I attended with my daughter in January. During this consultation, I was well informed of everything that would occur both during and after the surgery. This included a great deal of information and support by not only Dr. Shah, but also the occupational therapy team. Once been admitted for the procedure in March, despite being apprehensive and nervous, I felt extremely comforted and reassured. The recovery process whilst staying in the hospital was made extremely comfortable and easy due to the excellent team of nurses and staff present on the ward. Furthermore, I was consistently cared for and kept informed of my recovery status and the progress that I was making. After staying on the ward for a week, I was able to return home with crutches. Recovering at home was made more assuring and comfortable due to the fact that I was attending physiotherapy sessions at my local general hospital, St. Richards Hospital. After 5 weeks of recovery, I was delighted once I was informed I would be able to drive again. Overall, I cannot praise the procedure and the team highly enough. I have been extremely happy with the service and care that I have received during this process. I look forward to the future with my new, comfortable and efficient new knee replacement.

Mr Shah was surgeon in the team that replaced my hip following a traumatic injury earlier in 2015. I have since made a full recovery, and have normal mobility less than three months after the operation. I can commend Mr Shah for his friendly, highly professional approach, communicative style and technical expertise.
