I recently had surgery under the care of Mr Monkhouse. He was professional, empathic and listened from the moment I first made contact. He was also easily accessible via email and his website which to me was very important, no hiding behind a company that hassles with phone calls after you enquire about surgery as a private patient. I was having two operations at the same time, and Mr Monkhouse was recommended to me as someone who would be able to do this confidently. His expertise was clear and I felt very confident that I was in safe hands. His dedication to his patients is clear and he runs an extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly team at gatwick spire and they have been nothing but amazing from my first appointment. Technical expertise coupled with a friendly and approachable person is what you need in a surgeon, and Mr Monkhouse is exactly that.

Simon is a great pleasure to have as a surgeon, I was really worried about having a gastric bypass done, and I emailed him and text him all hours of the day and night and he would always put my mind at rest at whatever time - one was 2am on a Monday morning.... I wonder if he ever sleeps! I felt he is always there when you need that question answered. and within minutes! When I had my first official meeting with him to discuss the bypass I felt very confident and he explained the procedure to the full and with the detail you need. I feel I have a good link with him and seeing him every month at support group is excellent he is always there and asking how you are and I feel confident to ask any questions or concerns I have. He and the hospital staff looked after me 100% and have no regrets or complaints or anything they could improve on!

I had occasion to see Simon Monkhouse regarding treatment for an indirect inguinal hernia. This due to the size had to be treated by an open mesh repair procedure . I was as may be imagined quite nervous, however now four weeks later my anxiety and discomfort are a thing of the past. I must say Simon discussed and explained the procedure in detail prior to the operation and was available ( by way of his email address) at all times. In conclusion I am more than pleased the way the procedure went technically, and dealing with Simon on a personal level, I found easy and pleasant.
