After an unpleasant admission to A and E, my GP said 'enough is enough' and referred me on for further investigations. It transpired that I had gallstones, and thus needed my gallbladder removing. I was referred to Mr Monkhouse, who immediately put me at ease. He listened, understood, and told me what needed doing in a very down to earth manner. He even drew diagrams to show me what was involved in the procedure. A date for the surgery was within two weeks of us meeting, as he was keen to ensure I didn't end up in agony once again. Surgery itself (so I understand) was all as it should be, and although I was very nervous, was really a breeze. Mr Monkhouses' post op care has been very helpful, reassuring and very kind. I've never known of a consultant to invite personal emails, and certainly not expected to get replies at 11:30pm! If you are unfortunate enough to need GI surgery, you'll be very lucky if you get Mr Monkhouse as your guy. Thank you
