Review

I had a really disappointing experience that reflects some other reviews here. I found Dr Collaris to be quite dismissive and also felt some of his joke making was inappropriate and detracted from the seriousness of what I was trying to share I was experiencing. Here repeatedly spoke about not having the notes he needed from other hospitals which I know isn’t common problem but this also left me feeling quite concerned and frustrated. I’ve waited for this appointment for months and months and honestly felt I got very little from it. I had to persuade him to be referred for a scan to further explore my symptoms and was told it would only be done by him if I accepted that there might not be anything that can be done for what they find. I found that such an unacceptable approach. Overall, I found his manner and care somewhat chaotic, hard to follow and unhelpful. Very frustrating.

After battling with PCOS & Endometriosis for years, I have referred to see Mr Ron Collaris via the gynecology department at Croydon University Hospitality as I am in the process of wanting to start a family. Due to complications with my PCOS condition and not having 'normal' cycles, it'll be a long and difficult process in order to get pregnant. Mr Ron Collaris was an amazing listener and spent time properly going through my conditions, test results and discussing options in order to help with my fertility. He provided me with insight that no other consultant has given me during my 15 years of battling with my conditions and was incredibly empathetic, whilst, having an element of light heartedness / humour to help with the news. You can tell that he truly cares about his patients and that he's dedicated to making a difference and ensuring his patients are listened to. I'm only at the start of my journey with working on fertility and my conditions but I feel confident since my appointment that I feel supported. Couldn't recommend him enough - great consultant and what the NHS needs!

Not too impressed. I don't have a proper diagnosis yet, MRI is suggestive of endometriosis and I have all the classical symptoms of endo that are increasing in severity. I feel like I've been coerced into taking the mini pill despite telling him that I'm not happy to do that. No further tests ordered. Asked me to come back in 4 months, but the appointment booked only after 7 months! It's a joke! I already waited 5 months for this appointment. I could have had the same prescription from the GP without having to wait... Needless to say, considering going private althout I'm not rich by any means. I don't want to wake up one day with multiple organ damage because of endometriosis. This is not the service I expected.

The best doctor I’ve even had in the UK! Dr Collaris is very friendly, good listener, takes the time to explain everything you need to know and to answer your questions. He is very knowledgeable and makes me feel very comfortable during my appointment. I would highly recommend him and I don’t wanna change my gynaecologist! Thank you very much.

During a phone consultation he showed little compassion of how the pain I was experiencing from my endometriosis was impacting my life. He spent more time moaning about his workload and being close to burn out and how having to call patients for consultations wasn't helping. He asked me no exploratory or diagnostic questions about my pain and seemed totally disinterested. Despite my being cancelled 4 times for surgery and being on the waiting list for the longest, he wasn't interested in how this was affecting my life and genuinely didn't seem to care. All he seemed to care about was that he refused to cancel any other patients which went totally against hospital policy which is that when the hospital cancels surgery, lists have to be reviewed to ensure those at greatest clinical need are seen first.

As per Frimley Health Trust values- Mr Collaris excelled on all of it. I am a health professional and was booked as a routine referral from my GP. He was very friendly (which put me at ease), very good, very knowledgeable, very caring and very compassionate - as my GP had not really listened much to my concerns but he did. I was called back less than two weeks after my first appointment to break the bad news and explained options of treatment (i could still remember i just cried and could hardly remember half of the conversations we had on that appointment as i went blank). I was diagnosed with cancer, imagine the anxieties I have- Big C (being on the health field was completely shocking) but he had given me the biggest reassurance i could have and made all the necessary scans booked with urgency so he could fit me on his list for surgery in two weeks. I have seen the cancer specialist nurse and the MacMillan cancer support worker within that appointment to guide and help me. Due to other health issues, he made sure he seek all the clearance from the different consultants i was under, to ensure i was ok for surgery. On the day of my surgery, he had introduced me to my anaesthetists and had explained all the changes on my planned operation due to the risk- he listened and took into consideration the opinions of other health professionals involved in my care, which was very reassuring and sensible. The surgery went well and I saw him the next day after surgery. I was discharged day 3 post major surgery and he was pleased and was readily available to answer queries i had, even though i was already home. I saw him 6 weeks post surgery and i was told that all the test were reassuring and the Big C had not spread. The whole journey was life changing, but he made sure I was always updated and constantly reassured. I was very lucky to be under his care, he was very hands on, he listens, he is supportive and readily available to answer any stupid/anxious questions in my mind and had put me at ease. What else could I say - I am very grateful for his excellent care...and would highly recommend.

I did not feel rushed by Mr Collaris and his friendly yet professional manner put me at ease. He also listened to my preferred methods of moving forward with my health giving me the right to autonomy.
