I would just like to say I was extremely scared at the thought of a knee replacement.I had a consultation with Mr Heaton and he totally answered all the questions I put to him.I had friends that told me horror stories and said its really painful(and it is for the first couple of weeks).But Im so glad I had it done. Its 8 weeks since the op and able to do so much more without the pain I used to get.I say if I had it done(and im a baby!!!!!) anyone can . Mr Heaton was absolutely the kindest and attentive surgeon and thank him for giving me my life back pain free.

From initial appointment to the total hip replacement I was treated very professionally and mr Heaton and his staff were excellent in their care for me The operation and care at Grantham hospital was incomparable and brilliant Mr Heaton and the surgery team were professional and caring I was pleased with every aspect of my operation and the aftercare also Many thanks Mr Bernard Haywood

What a consultant! From the outset he listened to my issues and concerns. We discussed options and solutions, initially to prevent surgery but finally agreed that it was the only option. Mt Heaton was the epitome of caring and empathy but his orthopaedic knowledge and advice on what treatment I needed, the options, the possible impacts, side effects and expected pain levels and finally the results were what made him stand out. He carried out my surgery himself at Grantham hospital. Again, he discussed with me prior to the operation to advise what was going to happen and the post op care. During the operation (I was conscious through epidural) I understand just what was happening and the current status. After a short period I was back on the ward. The level of patient care from start to finish at Grantham was exemplary. Total pampering from caring, humorous, professional made my stay most rewarding. The post op physio is going well. I dispensed with walking aids after 2 days and was walking 1600m within 3 weeks. From start to the current time (6 weeks post op) I cannot have wished for better information, care, treatment and after care. My only advice would be to advise patients what the post op pain might be like, and what to expect.... pain, swelling, wound care, wound development etc. Its concerning when you have no benchmark to measure your performance or recovery against

Recent admission to Grantham Hospital for total hip replacement under the care of Mr Heaton and his team. From first OPA following referral to discharge excellent care received. Mr Heaton explained every step and was very professional and caring at each meeting. I knew I was in good hands. The team at Grantham Hospital were excellent in every role and delivered excellent care and support. Now on the road to recovery thanks to this gent and his team. Well done guys and thank you for improving my life for the better.
