I had had an op to replace my right hip a few years previously and my left hip started to let me know that it would need replacing soon, so I booked in to the Whittington. I did lots of Pilates strengthening exercises before the op in the hope that it would help recovery. Mr Ahmad was the surgeon and the op went well - so well that I was discharged the next day, stopped using crutches within a week and was back in a sculling boat (my main form of exercise) after a little over two months. I also experienced much less pain than I had after the first op. Mr Ahmad's calm approach and evident skills were much appreciated. The best advice I can give to someone preparing for a hip replacement is to have the op sooner rather than later, before you start losing too much mobility, and to do lots of strengthening exercises over a period of weeks (or months) beforehand.

I came in for a review of my hip op which went fine. Again had great and professional appointment with Mr Ahmad. I do need to have my other hip done but I said I needed a holiday. So Mr Ahmad said he would see me in six months.

I had a partial knee replacement skilfully carried out by Mr Ahmad. In comparison with an arthroscopy operation that I had done on my other knee by a different surgeon using keyhole surgery a few years ago, the recovery after the knee replacement has been remarkably painless, and I was surprisingly mobile within a couple of days after the operation, requiring little assistance from crutches.

Mr Ahmad was very professional ,his manner gave me confidence that the operation was the right one for me and would be a success . He was polite and sympathetic. He explained everything very clearly and reassuringly. In The follow up appointment he was very polite and informative and gave me confidence in my recovery.
