I first met Jean Deguara at the Upper GI Surgery-Raynes Park Health Centre. It was wonderful to been seen at my local medical practice; a short walk from my home. I'd done some homework on my Gall Bladder, which was full of Gallstones, before attending. Mr Deguara was friendly and businesslike. He immediately put me at ease and took time to explain my options going forward. I eventually decided to have Gall Bladder removed by keyhole surgery (a Laparascopic cholecystectomy and peri-operative cholangiogram.) I elected to have this done privately at The New Victoria Hospital. Mr Deguara made all of the arrangements with me via e-mail, but he/his secretary were available by telephone if I'd I'd chosen to use that form of communication. The pre-op assessment at The New Victoria Hospital was very thorough. I felt that I'd made the correct decision to go ahead with an elective procedure. On the day of the operation, the service at the New Victoria Hospital was both proficient and personal. The nurse looking after me met me at reception, introduced herself, showed me to my room and explained what was coming next. Mr Deguara visited me in my room and asked if I had any more questions, as did the Anasethetist Dr Waddington, before I signed the consent form. A short time later I was taken to the Operating Theatre where the procedure was performed. I woke up in my room some time later with my Nurse in attendance. I was given pain relief and a cup of tea and offered a menu. I selected a lite lunch which was excellent. Mr Deguara visited me later in the day, told me that the operation had been straightforward with no complications and told me that I could go home at 8pm, if I wished to do so. He also told me that he'd spoken with my partner post-op so that she was not unduly worried. I chose to stay overnight in case I needed strong pain relief. Dinner & Breakfast were both excellent. After breakfast, the following day, I went for a walk around the Hospital corridors with one of the Nurses followed by several circuits on my own. I left the hospital about 27 hours after arrival. I was grateful that the staff were in no hurry to chase me out of my room. I would thoroughly recommend Mr Deguara and The New Victoria Hospital for this procedure.

I have been looked after by Mr Deguara after being referred to him. He has been extremely thorough throughout every consultation and and has strived to get to the bottom of my medical situation at every step. I had huge confidence in him as my surgeon and he took tremendous care to continually inform myself and my family of my condition at every stage.

Mr DEGUARA has been looking after me for about 6 months during which time I have found him to be extremely caring. Not only does he have exceptionally good bedside manners, he is also very approachable. He is prudent and recommended to my GP that I should undergo a CT scan of my chest & abdomen due to my history of breast malignancy. Fortunately, his recommended procedure proved satisfactory. It was a great relief for me. Mr DEGUARA is a true professional.
