I had been struggling with an injury to my right shoulder and after a visit to A & E I was sent for appointments for an ultrasound and then a MRI scan. My first appointment was Friday 8th March 2019, (ultrasound), I then had two more appointments. One on Tuesday 19th March (MRI scan). I was then informed by Mr Polyzois at his Orthopaedic Clinic at St Peters Hospital, that I would need an operation on my right shoulder, I was informed of all the pitfalls of the operation and the length of time it would take to heal. I was also informed by Mr Polyzois that it might take 4 to 5 weeks to get an appointment for the operation, but he would do what he can to get the operation as early possible. I received a phone call from the hospital offering me an appointment for the operation on the 1st April 2019 at Ashford Hospital in Middlesex. I accepted the appointment. I was sent an appointment for a pre op and again it was explained to me the ins and out of the operation and what was going to happen. On the 1st April I had my operation on my right shoulder, since the operation I have had excellent aftercare from Orthopaedic clinic and from the physiotherapist at Woking community hospital. I still have a long way to go before complete recovery, but I could not have asked for any better care than I have received from Mr Polyzois and the team of NHS staff that I have come into contact with during my treatment. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Polyzios and all the NHS staff for everything that they have doe for me.

My father is in his 80s and had a fall that required a complete shoulder replacement. Mr Polyzois clearly explained the procedure, recovery time, expectations and risks of the surgery. The surgery itself went well and my father was home in a day. 7 weeks on and the scar is healed and neat. My father has half his mobility back and has minimum pain. We are pleasantly surprised at the recovery speed after the surgery and with follow up appointments and physio expect him to make steady progress. After initial worries of my fathers age, heart condition and requirement of Warfarin, we are happy we elected to have the surgery as it has given my father mobility and totally reduced his pain. The pain beforehand totally took over his day to day activities. We are very grateful and would wish to say thank you.

At the initial consultation Mr Polyzois examined me thoroughly and explained in detail the cause of the problem, the procedure itself (arthroscopic rotator cuff repair surgery on my shoulder) and the likely outcome. He fully answered all the questions I had. After the various tests, including an MRI scan, Mr Polyzois, on my second visit, explained what would be done in more detail. After the procedure I met Mr Polyzois again. He showed me pictures which confirmed that the procedure had gone well and according to plan. I am very happy with everything Mr Polyzois has been able to do for me and in time I expect to make a full recovery.

The treatment and care that I have received in the 'Trauma and Orthopedic unit' at St Peters hospital Chertsey under the care of Mr Ionnis Polyzios and his team has been second to none. I under went complex non-union revision open reduction and internal fixation surgery to my left humeral shaft. At all times Mr Polyzios made me aware of the risks with the surgery and in particular to the potential damage that could occur to the nerves and was happy to answer any questions or concerns. On the day of the surgery Mr Polyzois reiterated what he had previously told me and made me feel comfortable and safe in his care. Mr Polyzios came and spoke to me directly after my surgery to reassure me that all went well. At my follow up appointments Mr Polizois again always explains things well and will answer any concerns and is happy for me to contact his clinic if I have any worries between appointments. Things are progressing well with my recovery and i cannot express how impressed I am with the treatment and care I have received from Mr polyzios and his team.

I have only one word to describe Mr Polyzois. Genius! I have been suffering for over 25 years with shoulder, neck and back pain with dozens of different diagnoses, from a healed fracture to a pulled muscle. On my son's recommendation I saw Mr Polyzois in the first instance as a private patient and from that first consultation I knew he was the guy for me! He ordered an MRI and he saw me the following day.for the diagnosis. he pinpointed the problems immediately and explained in a way that I understood. But more than that he actually believed me (something I've waited years for!). An operation was needed but as I was going away on holiday it was decided that I should get a GP referral under the NHS.This took 6 months! Finally I saw him in March at the Runnymede and he booked me in for the operation there and then. Now a month or so post-op I am a different person. I can sleep, eat, work and sit without pain, it is such a wonderful feeling. Mr Polyzois is a incredible surgeon, a very approachable man and a lovely person . Thank you Mr P for changing my life. You are indeed a genius. Totally recommend.
