I had a first class procedure at Spire Parkway with Dr Rooney as the anaesthetist. He really listened to me and gave me constant opportunities for relaying feedback throughout. My procedure was typically done with general but after discussing between us and the consultant he was comfortable to offer sedation and local anaesthetic - general was there as a fall back if it was felt to be required. We stuck with the original plan and it was genuinely a 10/10 experience for me. Very happy with Dr Rooney. Thank you.

Dr Rooney looked after me for my total hip replacement Feb 2022. I was extremely nervous because I'd been advised a spinal block and sedation was the better option rather than general anaesthetic. Dr Rooney listened to my fears, and said if I decided to have the spinal block and sedation, he would tailor it to my needs and wishes. I decided to have this procedure, and asked for a moderate amount of sedation. He asked me several times during the procedure if I was ok, and did I need more sedation. I said yes, and was given more. I had no awareness or discomfort during the procedure, and no sickness or pain during my immediate recovery. Dr Rooney is immensely attentive, kind and caring. He listens to you, and gives you his best possible advice and care. I can't thank him enough.

I work with Dr Rooney as an Anaesthetic Nurse and have always found him to be an extremely safe and thorough anaesthetist who treats all of his patients with the utmost care and courtesy whatever their age or background. I would personally be exceptionally happy for myself or any member of my family to be treated my him. I have elderly relatives and I find that he actively plans his care towards his more delicate and challenging patients in a very methodical manner which is always in their best interest. High quality pain management is another area in which he delivers excellent care.
