A perfect job fixing the arthritis and a small amount of damage to my ACJ. Amazed at how quick the recovery was and how much better my shoulder is. Mr Hatrick took the time to explain what was going to happen (albeit in quite a quick fashion) and was very honest about the possibility it would not work, taking me through all of the options. Even the physio commented on how pleased he was with the job on my shoulder. very happy with the results.

I had an injury to my right shoulder and put up with it for a month before going to the doctor. I was checked by the Dr who sent me for x_ray and ultra sound everthing moved very quickly and was sent to Mr Hatrick who performed a rotarty cuff repair on the 19th of April 2017. Its been just over 3 months and I have vitualy full movement, minimal pain and building on strengthening the arm with physio therapy and doing well. I can't be more happy with the treatment I have recieved a, I done everthing I was told and it worked for me. Mark Bayley .

After years of shoulder pain I was referred to Mr Hatrick at the Lewes Victoria Hospital . He was extremely professional & courteous. He sent me for an ultra sound, xray & Mri scan. All quickly done without any hassle. On March 9th 2017 I had a Rotator Cuff operation at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. It was performed by Mr Hatrick. I can only say how lucky I was to have this procedure performed by Mr Hatrick & his entire medical team. Each & every one of them did their utmost to make me feel comfortable & at ease. The whole atmosphere was very calm & friendly from beginning to end. The operation was a success & I now realize just how much pain I was in before the operation as it sneaks up on you slowly & you adapt to it. I cannot thank Mr Hatrick enough for his work in helping me regain use of my left arm again. I would not hesitate to urge anybody to see Mr Hatrick if his field of expertise is what you require. You will be in safe hands. Thank you so much. I am eternally grateful. Howard John Kirk

Mr Hatrick had to re operate on an old shoulder injury for which he was thorough with his assessment and explained the options to me even though at this time I didn't think the operation would work I can only praise him in his superb work giving me a 100% shoulder and so I have every faith in him sorting my other shoulder now he's definitely the shoulder man. He listens and is very thorough can't praise him enough. Thank you.

I first saw Mr Hatrick some years ago when he operated on my right shoulder and I returned with similar problems on the left. Prior to surgery we explored other non surgical treatments and fully discussed the surgical procedure. Mr Hatrick is mindful of the issues that I have with many joints due to osteo arthritis and understood that the need to maintain my current level of mobility and quality of life is paramount. My one criticism is that everyone of my appointments to see him at The Victoria Hospital in Lewes was changed. I did comment on this to him and he was apologetic explaining that sometimes they needed to fit in urgent cases and that may result in a change of appointment. I pointed out that this was unfair to patients waiting for an appointment whose condition was unknown to the clinical staff when their appointment was altered. Mr Hatrick took my point on board and said that he would give consideration to the way appointments were managed in the future.

He undertook two fellowships in Sydney, Australia, sub-speacialising in shoulder and hand surgery.
The first fellowship was with Professor Michael Tonkin in the Department of Hand Surgery and Peripheral Nerve Surgery at the Royal North Shore Hospital. In 2001 he was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, now the Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust (BSUH). He has developed a successful multi-disciplinary, ‘one-stop’ shoulder clinic based in Lewes Victoria Hospital with an on-site radiology colleague undertaking investigations as required and advanced physiotherapy practitioners reviewing patients alongside him in the clinic. He was the lead orthopaedic surgeon for the Sussex Orthopaedic Treatment Centre from its opening in June 2006 until September 2009. From September 2009 until February 2013 he was the lead orthopaedic consultant for BSUH NHS Trust. He was a member of council for the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS) from 2015-2018.
