I saw Tracey today for the first time in clinic and was treated extremely compassionately and made to feel at ease. Due to having my illness for a substantial period of time I have met many professionals working at various hospitals and have experienced good care generally. Tracey however went above and beyond to listen to my worries that were not serious physical symptoms however a combination of emotional worries and changes in symptoms that were new to me. She listened and looked at my history before suggesting a plan of action and made me feel apart of the decision making process. I know it is extremely difficult to give all patients the time needed to address all issues however it made a big difference to me that Tracey dealt with me so competently and treated the whole person not just my medical symptoms. The IBD nurses are so important and have helped me many times and although it is not easy having ulcerative colitis, I do feel lucky I have access to great care provided by nurses like Tracey.
