Review of Northamptonshire Integrated Sexual Health Service (Kettering)
4th March 2023

My wife was seen first alone. When the nurse came to call me in, she had already made her mind based on the emotions my wife expressed. She assumed I had infected her with an STI, which was not correct as the results of the test show

Suggested improvements
A bit more respect is appreciated

Review of CMHT Red Kite

It’s just a job and no one seems to reallocate, as long as you’ve been ticked off as being seen then that’s good enough.

Suggested improvements
I am mainly referring to the mental health team at ashwood house in Kettering. I think that’s what it’s called. When you first go in, there are no signs to say you’re in the correct place, and as it’s the exit for the nurses from the sexual health clinic it’s confusing. The holding pen is exactly that, a small area with no chairs it’s literally the entrance way, where you wait and feel like an oddity as staff walk past and you’re just leaning against the wall. Also if there are other patients there you don’t necessarily want to be in close quarters with others depending on what issues you have as this could cause problems. It’s also lovely to see that there’s parcel collection points that are there, so when people are collecting their parcel you get to feel like a zoo animal. They never seem to recognise that you have an appointment and your left feeling like you’ve done something wrong. The rooms aren’t sound proof so I’ve heard conversations when someone was in crisis and I’m trying to have my appointment. The staff voices carry particularly well through the corridors, and the constant slamming of doors is enough to put anyone off feeling comfortable and ready to talk.

Have not answered the last 2 questions as do not feel relevant to my appointments. I had a great connection with Frances at my meetings both in clinic and on the phone. She was very understanding and extremely knowledgeable and has really helped me. Thank you :0) (Mum has typed this for me)

Review of ARMS Team
1st March 2023

The staff were incredibly understanding and supportive. They helped us achieve all our goals and were brilliant at making sure both of us felt supported. The therapy itself was excellent and we definitely left in a much better place than when we started.

Suggested improvements
The constant change of staff was not ideal for my partner who is being diagnosed with autism. It might be of benefit for staff to commit to at least the full 12 weeks of the family therapy, as my partner found it a little distressing being told that staff involved in his care were leaving. I appreciate this can't always be helped though.
