It took two months between needing a routine medication review and actually speaking to a nurse practioner on the phone to do the brief review. I sent an online message after a month and was assured by a doctor that an appointment would be sent to me when one was available. This did not happen so I called again, feeling I was being a nuisance. Repeat medication was not available during this time. The appointment with the nurse practioner was very positive and helpful. She was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and particularly understanding and positive when we discussed HRT.

Suggested improvements
Provide routine appointments. This would prevent conditions becoming worse and needing emergency appointments. It would also prevent needless stress and prolonged pain. That's all, just provide timely routine appointments. Endless detailed "coding" on medical records, with all the costs of staff that this involves, may help surgery admin and funding targets. Personally I feel that access to doctor or nurse consultations when necessary would help me manage my health/illness better, prevent relapses and be a more appropriate use of NHS funding.

Response from Patford House Surgery Partnership

Dear Patient - Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are delighted to hear you approve of our nurse practitioner's and their valued skills. The appointment booking system is under constant review - more routines versus the need for urgent care is a balance but we can assure you we welcome your comments and will share with the wider team. Best wishes - Julie Taylor - Operations Manager
