James Gibbs has just done my second hip replacement and it is equally as successful as the first one. As before, he was so kind and professional and it all went according to plan. He has such a calm way of working that the whole Theatre team seem to respond to it. I really would not hesitate to recommend James to any of my family and friends if they needed hip or knee surgery or just an assessment about what is needed to be done.

Having suffered for many years with a problematic hip that prevented me from walking even short distances I made the decision to undergo hip replacement surgery. This turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. The operation carried out by Mr Gibbs proved to be extremely successful and I was walking unaided within three weeks of leaving The Nuffield Trust hospital in Haywards Heath. I now walk at least two miles every day just to experience the joy of having no pain. Mr Gibbs helped me understand my problem and explained clearly how he was going to resolve it. As a 75 year old woman I can confirm this has changed my life and for this reason I cannot express my gratitude enough to him.

I have found James Gibbs to be an excellent surgeon who was happy to take the time to explain aspects of my hip surgery to me that I was inquisitive about. I found him very direct and clear and easy to talk to. He came highly recommended by two very old and close friends who had also had him as their surgeon for total hip replacements. I felt very safe with him and his team and went into the operation feeling very relaxed and confident that I would be well looked after. I had my other hip replaced about 9 years ago by another surgeon who also did a great job, but my recovery was far quicker after my recent surgery largely due to Mr Gibbs’s method which as he explained to me interferes less with the surrounding muscles and soft tissue. I was also pleased that my leg was a lot less swollen than the previous time round. All together I’ve had an extremely positive experience with Mr Gibbs and I’ve made a very swift recovery. I would highly recommend him as a fantastic surgeon with a great bedside manner.

I found his manner a little too direct at first but on the last visit I found him very approachable and charming.

I needed a total hip replacement and was referred to Mr Gibbs. He immediately set my mind at rest and explained everything in a very clear, concise, logical way. An excellent professional manner which has made the whole process extremely straightforward and both fear and stress free. 2 weeks after surgery I have made an amazing recovery and look forward to being able to return to normal activities.
