Having had a shoulder problem for many years and after some initially futile attempts I ended up by seeing Mr.Ioannis Polyzois @ St.Peter's Hospital who seemed to immediately grasp the nature of my problem. Mr.Polyzois recommended 3 steroid injections before considering any possible future surgery. The injections were carried out in 2 phases, 2 first and a final one if required (which it was) and were administered by the lovely Felicity who, along with Mr.Polyzois are a credit to the health service. After a relatively short period I can report that my should is 99% where it should be - not quite perfect but, at the risk of sounding a touch dramatic, is bordering life changing as far as my shoulder is concerned. The after care received has been first rate - If I have any issues in the next 6 months I can call and be seen promptly. Overall truly impressed with the entire experience.

After a fall in April 2018 my GP practice arranged for an ultrasound scan which took place in August. The result of the scan showed a full-thickness tear of the supraspinatus tendon, I was then referred to the Musculoskeletal Clinic. I saw Mr Polyzois on the 21st September and he arranged for an urgent MRI scan, this took place on the 01st October, on the follow up appointment Mr Polyzois discussed in detail the options open to me and I agreed to undergo arthroscopic surgery, the operation took place on the 14th December (subacromial decompression, rotator cuff repair (speed bridge method) and a bicep tenotomy). I am now six months+ post-op and I have full movement again in my shoulder with no pain, I am also now able to carry out a reasonable amount of heavy lifting. All in all I am very very pleased with the results and with the expertise and care of Mr Polyzois and his team. The operation took place at Ashford (Middlesex) Hospital.

Mr Polyzois first performed complex surgery on my badly broken elbow in July 2018 which necessitated fixing plates and pins. He explained at the time that further surgery involving elbow replacement might be necessary. This further surgery was carried out at Ashford Hospital in March 2019; this involved both the removal of the plate and pins and inserting the replacement elbow. Definitely a complex operation. This second operation has proved very satisfactory and I will be having further physiotherapy to improve mobility over the coming months. I can't thank Mr. Polyzois and his team enough for their superb care during both surgeries and all follow-up appointments. I would highly recommend Mr. Polyzois as an upper limb surgeon.

Mr Polyzois has overseen the treatment of a fracture in the top part of my humerus bone. At all times he has explained the treatment options available. We decided to wait and see how the injury would respond to physio treatment and daily arm exercises. Mr Polyzois reassured me that it would always be possible to undergo surgery at a later stage if the physio and exercise programme was unsuccessful. I am delighted to report that, nine months later, I have regained most of the mobility in my arm and am pain free without the need to undergo complicated surgery.

My local GP recommended I see Mr Polyzois as a specialist for my category 4/5 shoulder separation and I couldnt have been in better hands. When I mentioned his name to colleagues they all held him in the highest regard and I got the reassurance I needed. It was great that Mr Polyzois kept close to the issue all the way from start to finish and follow up six months after the operation itself.
