I have suffered from mental health difficulties for a long time, (20 years) and never before felt a doctor really cared or wanted to help me. When I met Dr Smita Iyar, I not only felt listened to but I felt she had all the time In the world for me. She was helpful, supportive and kind but at the same time said things to me that needed to be said so that I could make changes that I needed to.
I recently went back to see her to thank her for her support and it was such a lovely appointment where she just filled me with confidence that I have now been able to make the changes I need to including being able to apply for jobs again after being bullied at work.
I hope that Dr Smita Lyra will not leave this practice as I honestly wish all doctors were like her and want to carry on seeing her for the foreseeable future.
In the challenging days ahead, I now know I.have a GP who gives me the time, advice and support that I need. Thank you so much.

My surgery has more than one G.P but I try to see Dr Iyer only as I feel comfortable talking to her and she always remembers who i am and what my conditions are so I never have to tell her, I also feel she has time to listen to me which I know she has not due to ten minute appointments but she never makes me feel like I need to rush or that she is rushing me, after seeing her i always feel better knowing that she has helped me and when I have needed to be referred to a consultant the referral has been done promptly.

Dr Iyer took care to listen both times I have been to see her, not rushing and asking about my lifestyle. Explaining what is needed to help with my problem.
