When I first met Richard, I realised that he had total empathy with my situation, which fortunately was not as bad as it could have been... . At every stage, he has been an amazing support. When he phoned me at 5.30pm on a Friday evening, to tell me that my problem is curable, I realised that he has a selfless devotion to the patients that he deals with. That phone call meant that the discussions that my wife and I were able to have with our two children who had changed their plans and travelled home to the Lakes from London and Bristol for the weekend were very different to those that we would have had without that amazing news. We are in excellent hands... . All the care and support that I (and my wife) have received from the NHS in the traumatic last few weeks has been faultless. Thank you!

I cannot praise Richards caring attitude too highly. The service is so lucky to have staff of this calibre. I can only endorse the comments of other patients. He is an excellent communicator and puts the patient at ease. I feel confident talking to him about sensitive issues.

Richard is a very caring and attentive person who really makes you feel at ease under the circumstances. He explains everything carefully and is easy to contact and always available to speak to. We took our son with us the last time we saw him and he said the same about Richard and it eased his mind as well.

Richard Turner explained Prostate Cancer very well and objectively outlined the treatment options. He stressed the need for active patient and family involvement in developing understanding of my condition, in choosing the course of treatment and in taking responsibility for health during treatment. He rang me at home subsequently well after normal hours when it was necessary to update me. He also gave useful information concerning the practicalities of the different forms of treatment given that we live at some distance from the three centres where treatment is provided.

Richard put my mind at rest completely. He explained my condition in words that I could understand and what else needed to be done. He also described what symptoms I needed to look out for so that my condition could be managed appropriately. I am grateful for the caring treatment I received at this worrying time. I am confident that I’m in good hands going forward.
