Very busy ward but always had time to help me
Lovely staff
Ok
All staff were lovely and helped keep me calm and informed.
I was very impressed with the extra measures you had installed within the department in light of Covid 19. I did have to wait quite a while for treatment but every one was working so hard. I thought the separate cubicles in the waiting area were an excellent idea.
Although with respect me and my son was treated well by the doctor. He showed us care, compassion and communicationand well.
however durring our admission there was luck off care, compassion and communication. Especially when someone visits to the A&E they are already worried about there lovedone or themselves for not knowing thire current condition or they maybe in pain etc. All they need at that moment to feel they are safe, cared and supported. Staff showed they was annoyed about amount of people at the A&E but it's not my fault. Me and my 6 month baby went there at 22:15 we was discharged at 03:00 am. It doesn't cost anything for being kind and caring. There was other mums they has been waiting over 5hours.
I was put in the "Rapid Assessment" area.
After two hours I asked when I'd be seen. I was told I was next on the list.
I was feeling exceptionally poorly and felt like I was going to pass out. I'd slept for 2 days non stop (which is very unlike me) and all I wanted to do was curl up in bed and sleep again.
After another half an hour, I asked again and was told the exact same thing, that I was next on the list. I told them I wanted to go home and was told I'd be seen very soon.
After 15 minutes I asked for my cannula to be removed as I was leaving. I was told they'd get right on it....They went off to see other patients.
I waited another half an hour and then got up and walked out.
I walked passed two nurses stations full of nurses, went passed many doctors, let myself into the A&E waiting area and all through there and then out the doors.
I was very dizzy and bumping into things and had a cannula hanging out of my arm and not one member of staff offered me assistance or challenged me.
I removed the cannula myself once I got home.
It took them 20 minutes to notice I was gone and to call me.
I appreciate that the staff are very busy but when you watch a member of staff sat in front of a computer screen, pretending to be busy while playing on their mobile phone for 23 minutes and then get sent for their break for a further 20 minutes it makes it feel like you're being neglected or pushed aside because they can't be bothered.
Plus...Why call it "Rapid Assessment" if it's not actually Rapid?
Couldn't have asked for better treatment, kind caring staff
Throughout the whole experience we was left with mo updates apart from after 2 and half hours we was told the waiting time would be 5 hours my daughter was in pain with her ankle and had to ask for pain relief there was 2 elderly people waiting in the corridor and one lady asks to go out for fresh air with her husband she was told in no uncertain terms that if she went out and she was called she would lose her place. This lady was upset however one young man had been called 5 times by 3 different drs/ nurses and he was outside but when he came back in he was called immediately! Never ever experienced such terrible communication and poor care at a and e in my life
The wait for triage took some time because the area as full but when I saw Ashley he was very good, provided great advice and was understanding.
