Mr Dubey and his team gave my life back to me. I was in excruciating pain and unable to walk due to a MRSA bug. Unfortunately I had two bugs , the one in my back wasn’t discovered to some time after my initial admittance to a general ward., and once discovered I feel I should have been transferred to a neurological ward straight away , maybe there wasn’t a bed available. Instead I was sent home ,unable to walk or look after myself, thankfully I have a great partner that helped me. He took me to my GP who gave me antidepressants because I was crying with the pain. Obviously the pain didn’t improve so the next he called an ambulance and I was admitted to a neurology ward. I immediately saw a team of doctors who prescribed strong painkillers . I then met Mr Dubey and was informed he would do a biopsy on my back . I was nil by mouth for two different days which I feel could have been handled better, as I was not informed as to why the operation hadn’t gone ahead. When Mr Dubey did the op he found I had damage to some vertebra whjch he repaired. After the op I had to wear a brace. When I was discharged I was sent home with a pick line and had carers and a district nurse coming in each day which the hospital arranged. I also went each week to see the microbiologist till they were satisfied I was bug free.. I saw Mr Dubey eight weeks after the op and allowed to ditch the brace. I had an X-ray in December and the follow up was today. My back is fine and I have been discharged. I am pain free and making the most of life.
