After having years of pain with arthritis in my hands, especially in the thumb bases, and with injections only offering short term relief I was exceptionally lucky to be placed under the care of Mr Sauve at the QA Hospital Portsmouth. After reviewing my needs, he suggested that I should consider having surgery to replace my thumb base joints with artificial joints in order to get rid of the pain and give me better movement. He fully explained the procedure, its benefits and even the possible issues that might occur and now just over 2 months after having my left thumb operated on I am so glad that took up this option. The care he gives is second to none and he was happy to spend as much time as needed in making sure that I was content with what is going on both before, during the procedure and now with my aftercare. He is a polite, gentle man who has a great sense of humour and is a credit to his profession. I am so impressed with the way things have progressed that I am now on his list to have my right thumb operated on as well. Thank you, fully recommended.

I was extremely happy with the care, service and aftercare I had from Mr Sauve. I had base thumb implant for very painful arthritis 6/8 weeks later I am pain free with small nearly invisible scar. Very lovely pleasant doctor I would very highly recommend Mr Sauve for anyone undergoing hand wrist surgery.

I had a joint fusion performed on my right middle finger by Mr Philip Sauve. The finger itself was badly deformed due to osteoarthritis and I was in considerable pain. From the first consultation through to the operation itself, everything was explained to me clearly. Mr Suave, instantly put me at ease and I answered any questions that I had in a clear and concise manner. He is a true professional and obviously cares about all of his patients. I had total trust in his abilities and would highly recommend him.

I suffered a badly fractured wrist and after initially being treated at the treatment Centre in Portsmouth I was referred to QAH for an appointment in fracture clinic where I saw Mr Sauve who recommended that I needed an internal fixation. I was rather concerned as I had a flight booked in under two weeks to visit my daughter, but I didn’t need to worry as Mr Sauve advised that he would be able to operate the next day. From start to finish he was friendly and professional at the same time reassuring me of all my concerns. today I have had my stitches removed and am able with the expertise of Mr Sauve and his team to see my daughter tomorrow. I can’t thank you enough

I cannot recommend Mr Sauve highly enough. He performed carpal tunnel release on both my hands, 3 months apart. He is friendly, funny and thorough with his explanations. Being a curious patient, he also let me look inside the hand, which was awesome! I felt really well looked after and in safe hands with Mr Sauve, from the very first consultation. The results on both my hands were immediate and transformational - for example, no more putting eye liner on with a numb hand!
