31st January 2017

The optometrist was really professional and I felt did a very thorough eye test and listened to what I had to say. The time with the optometrist however is limited. The majority of the service, choosing the right glasses, ordering and receiving them, is carried out by different staff at the front of the shop. The service I received from the assistant when placing my order has been very poor. My perception is that she has not had adequate training for the job. I ordered two pairs of varifocal glasses on Friday 13th January. To date I have only received one pair, on 23rd January. - the assistant ordered the wrong frames for one pair. When I pointed this out on 23rd Jan I received an apology and was told the replacement pair should be in the store by Saturday 28th Jan and I would be notified by text. I tried calling the store many times on Friday 27th Jan but could not get through. It is now Tuesday 31st Jan and I have heard nothing about the replacement pair. - I feel the limitations of using varifocal glasses was not properly explained. I made it very clear that I needed the glasses for dancing, driving and reading. The varifocals are not suitable for dancing (I need to keep my head up, but look at the floor). It was not explained to me that the lens at the side of varifocals would not be for long distance, which I find a problem when driving. I cannot use the varifocals at all for reading in bed, as the reading section is too small. With hind sight I wish I had ordered separate reading and long distance glasses. - the assistant could not explain the difference between the types of varifocal glasses on offer, (standard, platinum etc) other than the price and the more costly ones were better.
