Share review of Boots Opticians Chichester - North Street
The shop was packed. There seemed to be far too many staff and customers for the size of room. There was a lack of privacy when being asked personal questions and when trying on frames. It is embarrassing doing this in front of others. The shop was very hot - the staff in short sleeves and customers with coats.
The number of staff handling was bewildering. I was first seen by a spotty youth - who seemed very uncertain of himself. The optometrist was excellent and very professional, the best that I have had in many years. I was passed to a young lady who was extremely courteous but I could not understand what she was saying. She seemed young and inexperieced. I guess they have to train somewhere - and her work was checked but left me anxious that my varifocals will not be right.
I was surprised at how long the appointment took
I arrived early in order to see if the frames I had seen on line were as good as they looked. My appointment was 10.10 and as I was early the youth did the preliminary enquiries - which made me uncomfortable. I am 70.
I dont know what time I actually went in for the test - but it was 11.30 when I paid my bill.
I think it would be helpful to be told how long one would be in the shop. I arrived at the car park at 9.30 and bought two hours, thinking that would be plenty.
I was also a bit shocked that a £170 pair of frames with the add-ons - and an alleged 25 percent discount, should still leave me with a bill of approx £450! Perhaps I would not have felt quite so stung, if I had had a better experience and not been made to feel uncomfortable.
